Veterinary Services

The Central Missouri Humane Society is proud to offer low-cost animal care. However, our clinic is not a replacement for a relationship with a full-service veterinarian and we are only able to offer a limited selection of services. For the long-term health and happiness of your pet, we recommend regular visits to a full-service veterinarian whenever possible.

Spay and Neuter

If you need financial assistance with your pet's spay or neuter, and you are a resident of Boone county, fill out this form or give us a call us at 573-443-7387 ext 212. We will contact you to schedule your appointment using one of our vouchers.  One voucher* per household may be used per year.

We only schedule appointments in advance. If you do not see any dates on the calendar, that means all the appointments are full for the next 3 weeks. More dates will be added as the weeks progress. Please keep checking back.

Community Cat Program

CMHS offers a Community Cat Program to provide affordable spay/neuter services for the feral and free roaming cats in Boone County.

Scheduling an appointment:

Community cat trap, neuter and release (TNR) services are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on a first come, first served basis. The TNR cat MUST be in a humane live trap (one cat per trap). CMHS loans out traps for a $25 deposit. The deposit is refunded when the trap is returned.

Drop off is at 7:30 AM with pick up being the following morning.

$25 program services include:

  • Sterilization surgery
  • Ear tip of the left ear
  • Rabies vaccination

Other Services

Microchipping is available for $15. Please call the shelter to schedule an appointment (typically for the same day, if our vet staff has availability).

Medical Euthanasia

CMHS' Owner Request Humane Euthanasia Program is designed for Boone County residents in need of financial assistance to provide humane euthanasia for their sick and ailing pets under the care of a licensed veterinarian. If your pet needs to be humanely euthanized for a medical reason and you cannot afford to have this done with your veterinarian, please fill out this form. This is an application and will be pending approval by our veterinary staff. If this is an emergency, please seek help from a local emergency veterinary clinic.
